Anxiety Counselling — Calgary & Alberta
Anxiety counselling
Over 7,000 hours of clinical experience with panic, generalized anxiety, health fears, phobias and intrusive thoughts — online across Alberta or in person in Calgary.
Anxiety is not a character flaw and it is not something you have to simply outlast. It is a pattern, and patterns can be understood and changed.
What anxiety counselling looks like here
Most people who come in for anxiety are hard-working and capable. From the outside things look fine. On the inside there is a nervousness in the core that will not settle, a body that feels unbalanced, and a mind that keeps running scenarios that never happen.
We start by making sense of it together: what triggers it, what your body does with it, and what you have been doing to cope that quietly keeps it going. From there we build practical, evidence-based skills you can use the same week — grounding for panic, working with intrusive thoughts, and slowly reclaiming the things anxiety has talked you out of.
Anxiety rarely arrives alone. It often travels with low mood, anger, strained relationships and poor sleep, so those get room in the work too.

People often reach out when
- Panic attacks arrive without warning and you have started avoiding places in case one hits.
- Your mind fixes on health fears or worst-case outcomes and will not let go.
- You feel wired and exhausted at the same time, and sleep is not fixing it.
- Intrusive thoughts show up that feel unlike you and frighten you.
- You push people away because it feels safer than being let down.
- You are powering through, but you have started to fear you will lose the war.
How Vince works
Vince Urquhart is a Registered Psychotherapist with Beck Institute CBT training and over 7,000 hours of clinical experience, much of it in anxiety, panic and hyperstimulation. He also understands the emotional and physical turmoil of anxiety from his own life, not just from the literature.
The approach is common-sense and evidence-based, with room for the spiritual side of your life if that matters to you. If sleep is the piece that will not budge, the CBT-i program for insomnia may run alongside your sessions.

Questions
Common questions
- How long does anxiety counselling take?
- It depends on what you are working with. Many people notice a difference in the first handful of sessions once they have practical tools for panic and racing thoughts. Longer-standing anxiety usually takes a few months of consistent work.
- Do you offer anxiety counselling online?
- Yes. Sessions run online across Alberta, or in person in Calgary at 3343 49th Street SW. Online works well for anxiety, and it removes the barrier of driving somewhere new when you already feel on edge.
- Is the counselling faith-based?
- It can be. Vince integrates a faith perspective with the science of psychology, and how much of that you want in the room is entirely your call. Plenty of clients come purely for the clinical work.
- What if my anxiety is mostly physical?
- That is very common. Hyperstimulation, a jittery body, chest tightness and disrupted sleep are all part of the anxiety picture, and they are all things we work on directly.
